Jefferson acknowledges the receipt of some volumes of Virginia laws sent to him by Nelson. As U.S. Attorney for Virginia, Nelson had recently furnished Jefferson with reports of proceedings in his state that the British might consider infractions of the Treaty of Paris of 1783.
